Free QR badge maker

Free employee QR badge maker

Type your company name and paste your team — one person per line, with an optional role and ID — and print credit-card-size badges, eight to a letter page, each with its own QR code. It's free, needs no signup, and nothing you type leaves your browser.

One person per line: Name, Role, ID. Role and ID are optional. The QR code encodes the ID when there is one, otherwise the name. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

Letter paper or card stock · 8 per page · cut along the dashed lines

Free, no signup. Made by TrackBadges, the QR badge time clock for crews.

How to make employee badges

  1. Type your company name.
  2. Paste your team, one person per line: Name, Role, ID — role and ID are optional.
  3. Click Print, and choose your printer or Save as PDF.
  4. Cut along the dashed lines. Each badge is 3.375 × 2.125 inches — the size of a credit card (CR80), so it fits standard badge holders.

What the QR code contains

Each badge's QR code encodes the ID you entered, or the person's name and your company if you leave the ID blank. Use an opaque ID number rather than personal details like a phone number or date of birth: anyone with a phone can read a QR code.

Badges that clock people in

These badges are just pictures — scanning one opens the text inside. To make badges that clock your crew in and out, use TrackBadges: it prints a badge for everyone, and a supervisor scans them with any phone to record hours, with live who's-working, overtime and payroll exports. Free for 3 people, and you can try it before signing up.

Frequently asked questions

What size is an employee ID badge?

The standard is CR80: 3.375 × 2.125 inches (85.6 × 54 mm), the same as a credit card. It fits standard badge holders, clips and lanyards.

What should a QR code on an employee badge contain?

An opaque employee ID or a link to your own system — not personal information. Anyone with a phone camera can read a QR code, so avoid phone numbers, addresses or dates of birth.

Can I use these badges as a time clock?

Not on their own — they encode text, not a connection to a time clock. TrackBadges prints badges that work as a time clock: a supervisor scans them with any phone to clock people in and out.

Is this badge maker really free?

Yes. There's no signup, no watermark and no limit beyond 80 badges per print. Everything runs in your browser; nothing you type is uploaded.
